About Me
Hi, I’m Christine Stevralia—Core Energetics practitioner, writer, and dancer based in Durham, NC. I believe that we can change the world by changing ourselves—and that healing begins in the body.

I came to Core Energetics seeking my own healing. At the time, I was debilitated by health anxiety, climate dread, and mass extinction grief. My anxiety was physical—pains, rashes, heart palpitations. I felt a lack of energy and motivation, helplessness and fatigue. Sometimes I felt like I was watching myself from outside of myself. I longed for purpose and connection—but often found myself burned out from overthinking, or forcing myself into social situations I didn’t really feel present for. I wanted to feel happy and powerful, but I didn’t know how.

Core helped me reconnect to my body as a source of safety, truth, and vitality. It showed me emotions I had buried, and gave me a pathway to move through them with breath, sound, and grounded presence. I learned that I didn’t need to think my way out of patterns—I could move, express, and feel my way through them.

Now I continue to do my own work, because it helps me to step into greater leadership, be more honest and loving in my relationships, be more and more true to myself, and continuously dismantle limiting belief systems. It helps me me true to myself and act in alignment with my soul's purpose. There is no limit to my aliveness.
I hold space that is honest, compassionate, and embodied. Whether you’ve done years of therapy or are just beginning your journey, I offer a place to explore what’s alive in your body—and to open to freedom, connection, and meaning.

I trained at the Seattle School of Body-Psychotherapy and work with clients of all backgrounds, genders, and lived experiences. My practice centers consent, inclusion, and respect for your unique path.
This work is not about fixing—it’s about living your most loving and empowered life.
The Docuseries that introduced me to CORE
I invite you to watch a few episodes of a docu-series by David Sutcliff with practitioner, Ann Bradney, called "Group." You can watch the episodes HERE. It is raw, vulnerable, at times difficult, touching and incredibly profound. This will give you and idea of the potential of the work.
Basic Core Theory

This animation by Kellie Newton lays out the basic theory.
Note: She uses the word “Mom” a lot. If “Mom” does not apply to your family, you can substitute “the person whose uterus you grew in” for pre-natal events, and “your primary nurturer(s)” for post-natal events.
What is CORE Energetics?
Core Energetics is a powerful form of somatic therapy that blends body-oriented psychotherapy, energy work, and spiritual development to support deep emotional healing and personal transformation. Developed by Dr. John Pierrakos, a student of Wilhelm Reich and co-founder of Bioenergetics, Core Energetics is based on the belief that our life experiences—especially trauma, stress, and emotional wounds—become embedded in the body as blocks. These energetic blocks limit the natural flow of vitality, joy, and emotional expression.

At its core, Core Energetics invites us to move beyond talk and into the felt experience of the body. Using movement, breathwork, sound, and intentional expression, the practice helps clients access the unconscious patterns and defenses that were once necessary for survival but are now barriers to connection, intimacy, and self-expression. These defenses often show up as chronic muscular tension, emotional numbness, or behavioral patterns we don’t fully understand.

Much like Vipassana meditation’s emphasis on observing bodily sensations to understand the nature of the mind, Core Energetics recognizes the body as a gateway to deeper consciousness. The process is not about “fixing” what’s wrong, but rather about meeting what is—with compassion, awareness, and courage. As blocks dissolve, we gain access to a freer, more authentic self—what Core Energetics calls the CORE, the Center Of Right Energy.
In a session, a practitioner may guide you through grounding exercises, expressive movements, or body-based inquiries designed to safely explore emotional content held in the body. You may be invited to give sound to long-held emotions like grief, rage, or fear—often held in the throat, chest, or pelvis. These expressions are not dramatized; they are purposeful and held in a safe, consensual container to allow for integration, not overwhelm. The goal of Core Energetics is not only emotional release but transformation. As we move energy through the body, we also reconnect with essential qualities like joy, creativity, and love. Over time, the work fosters an inner alignment of body, mind, emotions, will, and spirit. This alignment empowers us to respond to life with presence and choice, rather than from old, unconscious patterns.

Core Energetics is especially helpful for those seeking trauma-informed therapy, emotional freedom, spiritual growth, or deeper intimacy in relationships. It honors the body’s intelligence and integrates the emotional, psychological, and energetic aspects of healing.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply curious about your deeper self, Core Energetics offers a grounded and profound path home to your body—and to your life force.
