About the event
This somatic experience is based on two principle beliefs:
To connect with others, we first have to connect with ourselves.
We have to allow ourselves to have our No before we can have our Yes.
Imperfect parenting during our developmental years often teaches us to mask up - to be cool, to be polite, to be a bad ass, to be sexy, to keep it all under control, to take care of everything, to self-sacrifice, to be pleasing, to smile through our pain, or to rage through our hurt. These qualities may be part of our true self, but they become a part of our mask when we use them protectively. We learn to perform an "acceptable" version of who we are. We learn to anticipate others' expectations and prioritize those perceived expectations over our own authenticity. This keeps us separate.
